Charla Kinasewich, BSCOT (C)

Charla graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy in 2000. She has been practicing in the area of pediatrics as part of a multidisciplinary team in both British Columbia and Alberta.

Charla has worked within a wide array of age groups, diagnosis and settings (e.g., clinic, home, school and community). She has developed expertise in working with children with feeding and swallowing issues, sensory integration dysfunction, seating and mobility issues, adaptive equipment, assistive technology, developmental delays, Developmental Coordination Disorder, visual perceptual challenges, chromosomal abnormalities, Down’s Syndrome and Autism Spectrum Disorder.

She has completed continuing education in the areas of sensory integration, Neurodevelopmental Treatment, the Handle Paradigm, feeding and swallowing, seating, mobility and splinting. She is co-author of The Bear Necessities for Little Learners – an intensive 8 week group designed to educate and support both parents and other service providers in better understanding child development. Charla also worked as a member of the Special Education Technology-British Columbia (SET-BC) screening committee and has been a guest speaker in Supported Child Development professional development conferences and Success by 6 initiatives.

In 2005, Charla established her pediatric Occupational Therapy private practice providing consultation for Specialized Services contracts through Family Supports for Children with Disabilities (FSCD)

Charla is the proud mother of two little girls, who have brought a wealth of personal insights, practicality and first-hand knowledge of the joys and challenges of parenting.
